ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:
Teton Raptor Center (TRC) is a nonprofit organization working to advance raptor conservation through education, research, and rehabilitation. TRC is located on a historic property in Wilson, Wyoming.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Teton Raptor Center is seeking a creative and self-motivated individual to help take our conservation initiatives and educational outreach to the next level. The primary roles of the AmeriCorps Conservation Educator (ACE) are to A) develop, create and promote educational materials to support two key nationwide conservation initiatives, Sporting Lead-Free and the Poo-Poo Project and B) help deliver educational programming locally to bring attention to raptor conservation. The ACE will contribute to  creation of outreach materials and activities for all types of learners that will complement these conservation initiatives. The AmeriCorps Conservation Educator will help bring these national conservation initiatives to the next level and assist in delivering programs on- and off-site.

Under the supervision of the Conservation Director and Education Specialist, the AmeriCorps Conservation Educator  will:

Develop, build, create, and share engaging information, materials, and activities that elevate awareness and participation in Teton Raptor Center’s keystone conservation initiatives, including Sporting Lead-Free and the Port-O-Potty Owl Project (Poo-Poo Project).
Assemble educational guides, hands-on materials, visual aids, displays, and toolkits tailored to diverse audiences such as hunters, anglers, agency partners, ambassadors and the general public to support conservation initiatives.
Curate, create, and contribute educational content for TRC’s and SLF’s digital platforms, including social media and websites.
Regularly conduct outreach to establish and build new outreach partners engaging in the SLF and Poo-Poo initiatives.
Support delivery of educational programs and demonstrations on and off-site.
Build and maintain inventory of outreach and conservation materials, shipping, and follow-up with partners.
Gather and summarize feedback following outreach delivery, and work with supervisors to refine and enhance content and materials.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to call and find new partners to advance the SLF and Poo-Poo initiatives, including giving free Poo-Poo screens and sample lead-free tackle packs to agency partners across the nation. .
An excitement and willingness to engage the public about our work through both formal and informal platforms.
Able to stay on task and complete assignments in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
Creative, and strong desire for hands-on building of educational supplies (including epoxy casts of spent ammunition, laser cutting materials, assembly of kestrel boxes. etc) ).
Punctual, reliable, and willing to put in a full day of work, every day.
A love of nature, especially birds, and a desire to share that love with audiences of all ages (note – while academic background knowledge of education and/or ecosystems and conservation is helpful, it is not required to be successful in this position).
Good health and fitness, including the willingness and ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as cleaning and lifting (up to 40 lbs.) and to work in unheated spaces during cold weather.
Willingness to infrequently travel with TRC staff for outreach events, including multi-day trips.
Some firearms familiarity or willingness to learn and engage in shooting activities for outreach materials collection.
In college or recently graduated and at least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license.
Commitment to the entire AmeriCorps term timeframe and ability/flexibility to work five days per week  at TRC (9:00a – 5:30p most days – times and days may be adjusted to accommodate for programs).
Must be a United States citizen, a United States national, or a legal permanent resident of the United States.
Successful applicants must pass a criminal history background check, driving record review and drug screening prior to start date.
Current CPR & AED for Adult and Child and First Aid Certification.
