Live and serve in the Tetons! This Jackson Hole Children’s Museum team member will be responsible for leading various educational programs with the opportunity to develop play-based education skills in museum and classroom settings. This position will be four days (32 hours) a week including several Saturdays.
Summary
Roles and Responsibilities:
● Education Faculty:
○ Support or lead STEAM, Afterschool, Summer Camp, and/or Patron Programs
○ Engage children in safe exploration, play, and learning.
○ Develop lessons and curriculum as needed
○ Help to reset classrooms, workshops, and Museum space after use.
○ Manage child behavior and group dynamics based on JHCM policies.
○ Collaborate with the JHCM staff to ensure the smooth function of all programs.
○ Communicate with families and partner organizations as necessary.
● Museum Operations and Play-Engineer:
○ Welcome & assist guests at the front desk and manage daily reservations.
○ Contribute to an extraordinary user experience for all museum guests.
○ Serve as a play engineer with exhibit and facility curation and programming
○ Support the delivery of private Museum events and programs
● Education Team:
○ Maintain JHCM policies and protocols for all programs
○ Attend weekly Education Team meetings
○ Support the new museum opening process as needed
○ Support operations staff in outreach and marketing efforts as needed
● Serve as a full member of TSS AmeriCorps Team
○ Complete AmeriCorps requirements on a timely basis
○ Attend seminars and trainings provided by Teton Science Schools.
Qualifications:
– Must have obtained a high school diploma/equivalency certificate.
– Commitment to diversity and inclusion in teaching; willingness to be part of a small community.
– Must be willing to serve Saturdays at the Museum
– Must be able to manage risk and make leadership decisions.
– Interest in education and child development. Teaching experience is not a requirement for this position. Successful applicants may have backgrounds in science, art, or other fields.
– Strong communication and teamwork skills.
– Enthusiasm for working in a high energy, play based learning environment.
– Flexibility, curiosity and excitement toward our mission.
