What you can do to help Donate Time, Food, and Money -- Every community has a food pantry that is helping to feed hungry households. Volunteers and funds are always needed. Contact HANNYS for the name of a local program. Educate Others About Hunger -- Unlike homelessness, hunger is often described as the invisible problem - yet more millions of Americans are hungry. Help make others more aware of the problem. HANNYS has speakers available to come to communities in New York State to address the issue of hunger. Write to Your Elected Officials -- Hunger is a political problem. Make your local, state, and national politicians know that you want more to be done to end hunger in our communities. Grow an Extra Row -- Work with your local community garden projects to grow more food for local food pantries. Plant an extra row in your backyard garden to donate to residents in need in your neighborhood. For HANNYS mission, visit Nonprofit Career Network Corporate Profiles.
