All services utilize volunteers. LA Shanti will train individuals in the Shanti model - a non-judgmental, compassionate presence approach to counseling. The word "Shanti" is a Sanskrit word meaning "inner peace". LA Shanti believes that each person can find his or her own resolution for issues which often arise when a person is living with a life-threatening illness. LA Shanti provides its services as tools to be used by its clients in resolving those issues.
