Family Friends, a projected jointly sponsored by Action for Boston Community Development and Children's Hospital in Boston, matches senior citizens (55+yrs) with children who have chronic illness or a disability in a mentoring, surrogate grandparent relationship. Volunteers make a 9-mth commitment to visit the matched child in his/her home for four hours each week to read, play, go outside or watch TV We need volunteers interested in helping in any of the following areas:
- Being matched with a child in Boston neighborhoods.
- Help get the word out by contacting, sending information or making presentations to recruit Seniors volunteers.
- Help families of the resource.
- Plan and coordinate fun events for families and volunteers.
- Help with publicity and fundraising by sharing your experience in a technical assistance mode or through "hands-on" help.
Please call 617-442-8737 if you can help.
