Metropolitan Boston Housing Partnership

MBHP has an opportunity for a volunteer or intern to develop and maintain a staff library. The library will stock books, periodicals, and research papers on topics that will broaden the staff’s understanding of the issues facing our clients. The librarian will organize the physical space of the library; set up a system of checking books in and out; organize periodicals and reports; and keep abreast of new books, reports, and periodicals that the agency should have on hand. The librarian will also recommend library items and materials for the agency to purchase, and may develop “recommended reading” lists for new staff.

Applicants should have strong organizational skills; previous library experience a plus, as is knowledge of housing issues in Greater Boston.

Hours: the Staff Librarian will work 15 – 20 hours a week to organize the library, then 5 – 10 hours a week afterwards to keep it running smoothly.
This is a part-time, unpaid volunteer/intern position.
