Founded in 1977, the NESC is a public service organization comprised of retired or semi-retired executives who volunteer their services on a part-time basis as consultants or business advisors for nonprofit organizations & schools in the greater New York area. It also serves as the national headquarters for 40 independent Executive Service Corps affiliates serving 27 states in the country. When an assignment is obtained, the volunteer's skills from the NESC database are matched to the needs of the client. The consultancy is supervised by a Director of Management Consulting who prepares a written plan. It often requires at least two volunteers for one or two days a week for up to three months.
