The International Executive Service Corps (IESC) would like to recruit several Association Management Experts for a three to four week assignment in one of the countries of Europe and Eurasia. Volunteers will work with non- governmental organizations (NGOs) to help them acquire the necessary skills to improve the management of their organizations.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Volunteer association experts will provide training to help strengthen non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and associations in the countries of the New Independent States. Must be able to provide training on several of the organizational management areas listed below:

  • Using Media to Promote an Advocacy Agenda
  • Fund-Raising to Enable NGOs to Raise their Profile in the Media
  • Office Management, Communication and Human Resource Development Skills
  • Basic Strategies for Constituency Building and Increasing Membership
  • Strategic Planning and Management
  • Developing Financial/Accounting Systems
  • Developing the Mission Statement of an Organization
  • Selecting and Working Effectively with a Board of Directors

    We are particularly interested in volunteers who have worked with women's NGOs to address gender and domestic violence issues and/or have developed mentoring programs.
    Volunteers selected for these projects must have dynamic training skills and have been an association executive, staff, or board member actively involved in the development of the organization. He or she will fully understand how an association or NGO develops and how all of the components of the organization work together for the organization to be effective. Prospective volunteers must have at least 5 years experience working for an NGO or providing consultant services to NGOs.
    These volunteer opportunities will build stronger associations in a developing country. The volunteer will be provided with per diem, international airfare and an allowance for housing and local transportation. Projects are scheduled in 2001 and 2002.
